This is where you see Arad's history: the History Section reopened in 2026 after modernisation.
About the place
The palace was built in 1911–1913 to plans by Arad architect Lajos Szántay. The main facade is neoclassical, with Corinthian columns, the side wings show Italian Renaissance influence, and the park side has Gothic elements inspired by Corvin Castle. The building houses the State Philharmonic and the museum.
The museum has history, archaeology and natural science sections, plus a picture gallery. The History Section was closed from 2022 and reopened in June 2026 after a 9-million-lei modernisation, with eight rooms and interactive screens. It opens Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00–17:00 (last entry 16:30). An adult ticket costs 13.5 lei per section, or 47 lei for all exhibitions.
Good to know
- The museum is closed on Monday.
- The Natural Science section is entered from the Children's Park, Archaeology from Bulevardul Dragalina.
